Pandesal with a Tim Hortons® Twist

Pandesal, the Philippines’ sweet and fluffy favorite breakfast staple made its way to Tim Hortons to celebrate the country’s Independence Day.

They called their limited edition breakfast sandwich “TIMDESAL” it became available last June 11 2019 and will continue to make us crave for more until the end of August 2019.

Everyone will surely enjoy the Smokey Bacon with cheese and garlic ravioli served with chipotle sauce in panini-pressed pandesal.

Stephanie Guerrero, the marketing director for Tim Hortons Philippines said, “As our way of recognizing the significance of Independence Day, we at Tim Hortons wish to offer this breakfast favorite, reminiscent of its Filipino homey taste”.

You can taste the delicious Timdesal for only P75. But what is hot Timdesal without Tim Hortons’ signature Iced Coffee, right?

A quick trivia – The Declaration of Philippine Independence from Spanish rule was declared by General Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1898 at Kawit, Cavite. Pandesal, or “bread of salt,” which was introduced in the 16th century, is relatively sweet, and is unofficially the Philippine national bread.

Not An Ordinary Coffee Float: You’ll crave for more

I know most of you, coffee lovers have tried iced coffee and coffee float. You may think this discovery is just the same as what you’ve tasted, well here’s why you’re wrong;

I have written an article here about Philippines’ First Affogato Dessert Bar, if you haven’t read it yet, click here to know more about it or just watch this short clip.

Anyway, Philippines’ first Affogato Dessert Bar, Affojeans has an ongoing promo – Buy 1 Take 1 Cold Brew Coffee Float. As a coffee addict, I’ve always looked forward on tasting their Coffee Float. I got the chance to try it when me and my family bought school materials for my son. I can’t say no to my craving when it’s already there beside the National Bookstore (SM North Edsa).

I ordered a classic flavor, Affo Cold Brew Float and the take 1 was my hubby’s request, the New York (N.Y.) Cheesecake Float. Both in Jeans size. Let me tell you, I am amazed about how they called their cup sizes – Shorts (16 oz) and Jeans (22 oz) – it’s witty, right?

I wasn’t really sure about my order but I wanted to taste a classic drink and I honestly did not regret my choice.

Affo Cold Brew Float contains Brewed espresso, milk, a couple of ice cubes and a scoop of vanilla gelatto. I liked how strong the espresso was. The gelatto and milk added the right amount of sweetness. There was no other texture other than the gelatto’s smooth almost melted texture. This drink is something I’d want to drink at home while working or relaxing.

Their NY Cheesecake flavor is great too. I just wish I can taste more cheesecake flavor because I really love cheesecake. But maybe it’s just me because my husband loved it. He said his drink is better than mine. But I think both are great drinks and I can’t choose what’s better.
This NY Cheesecake drink is something I’d like to have while hanging out with my friends or when seeing a movie. It felt like 22oz isn’t enough for me.

I am looking forward to tasting the other flavors. Not just the Cold Brews but the other affogato desserts as well.

If you’re wondering how much the Cold Brews are here’s the deets:

I highly suggest you try it. Unlike other coffee float, you can really tell there’s a coffee and it has a bit of a surprise kick in it.

A Must Visit Flavorful Dessert Station

Are you a sweet-tooth and up for a unique mouthwatering escapade? But wait, do you like coffee? What about ice cream, do you like ’em? Who doesn’t, right? Well, if you like both or just want to try something new, passing by this dessert station will be a great idea.

Affojeans is the Philippines’ first affogato dessert station located at the Upper Ground Floor of SM North Edsa, in the middle of National Book Store and SM Department Store.

Affojeans is founded by two young (on their 20s) women. As per Ms. Megz Zapanta, co-founder, affogato exists in some elite and prestige coffee shops in the Philippines but they’ve observed that affogato does not sell that much.

Curious women researched about how affogato is made and everything behind its contents. After compiling all of their researches they tried making their own simple affogato and realized it could work. They then tried creating affogato and mixed it with different flavors. After finding a reliable ice cream supplier and coffee supplier they started to add more twists on each flavors and started Affojeans.

Wait, What is affogato anyway?
Affogato is a mix of only 2 ingredients, ice cream and espresso. It is a famous Italian dessert. Affogato is an Italian word meaning “drowned”, borrowed from the word affogare which means “to drown”. So, it’s basically gelato affogato or affogato di gelato which refers to an “ice cream covered in a liquid”. It is meant to be enjoyed by eating using a dessert spoon, although you can drink it too when melted.

In Affojeans, they “drown” the ice cream in fresh hot espresso. It’s surprisingly good.

Affojeans has seven flavors; Caramello (Caramel & Nuts), Tiramisu (Chocolate & Cheesecake), Cinna-bun (Cold Cinnamon Bun), Classic Affogato, with their 3 best sellers – Matchagato (Matcha Affogato), Black Panda (Mocha & Oreos), and my personal favorite – Avococo (Avocado & Coconut).

I got the chance to try all of their best sellers.

(from left to right) Avococo, Black Panda & Matchagato

Based on the name itself Matchagato, it is a Matcha Affogato. To be honest, I’m not really into matcha, but this one is different. I like the taste of their Matchagato, it’s flavorful and you won’t get fed up with the taste.

Black Panda

I am a guilty lover of cookies & cream, and this is a wonderful combination of coffee and oreo cookies & cream. It’s not just that, the cream is mocha flavor, imagine the strong taste of this dessert. Even though it has a strong flavor, you’ll be surprised with the sweetness that the cookies give you, and that’s the twist that you’ll love in Black Panda.

This one is my favorite among all the flavors that I tried. It is a mix of Avocado and Coconut. you can even see coconut flakes on top of it, and that’s what I love the most. Even without the espresso, I can finish a cup or two, then maybe I’ll just drink the espresso. LOL

I genuinely love avocado and this one is a win. I just love it so much, I wanted more but I already had 3 affogatos I didn’t think I can eat more after that. But I’ll definitely have more if I can, everyday. LOL

Watch my video blog about Affojeans below

This is actually my first time tasting this kind of dessert. The twists in each flavor is shockingly amazing! You’ll want to taste all of their desserts, and that’s what I’m going to do to inform you of what each flavor tastes like. Better if you follow me on Instagram because I post reviews there.

Affojeans revealed their new collection of Cold Brew Float. Their cold brew float comes in 3 delightful flavors; Affo Cold Brew, New York Cheesecake and Cherry Blossom.

The Legendary John Lloyd Cruz’s Tasty Comeback

One of the Pinoy’s ultimate crush, John Lloyd Cruz has been hiatus from showbusiness since 2017, but still not completely invisible to the public eye; for photos and videos of him circulates on all the media platforms.

JL Cruz is one of the most fit actors in the Philippine cinema and a powerful endorser. he, once again proved that his fans are craving for his return. In a teaser video, which lasted only for a few seconds and only shows the back shot of Cruz’s, and posted in the Facebook page of the number one selling shawarma Turks a few weeks ago had been viewed 3.2M times, shared almost 800 times and gained a huge number of comments.

Without any knowledge in that teaser video, his fans assumed that it was the matinee idol who was featured in that video. Famous Filipina actress, Bea Alonzo on her Instagram also posted a screenshot of that teaser video, which garnered almost a million lovely reactions.

Just this Monday morning Turks finally revealed in the 1-minute and 17 seconds video of Cruz showing the actor walking through different destinations, which somehow depicts Cruz’s sojourn. The video is very simple, yet there’s drama the way it was created, and in a very subtle shot, he stopped and took a bite of a Turks pita donner.

The rugged look of Cruz in the Turks video titled Ang Pagbabalik is way too far from his guy-next-door image and a lot of people in the industry are asking if this signals his return to the limelight. His fans are still wondering about the life he’s been living since his hiatus.

According to Turks president Gem, L. Zenarosa that during the course of his talks with Cruz, they never talked anything about his showbiz career or plans. He added that he got Mr. Cruz as the latest ambassador of Turks because of his great confidence working with Cruz.

“I am really grateful that John Lloyd trusts our company, he is a brilliant and very creative young man. Aside from acting we have discovered some of his remarkable talents,” Zenarosa stressed.

The ‘Ang Pagbabalik’ according to Zenarosa is actually about Turks Small Pita Doner, which will be available again in all its branches.

JLNagbabalik (2).jpeg

“John Lloyd is the best endorser for this because like him, despite his absence in the showbusiness for a couple of years, the warmth and love of his fans for him never dwindles. With our Small Pita Doner we believe that our customers will be happy to know that it is back in our menu,” Zenarosa explained.

Just like Cruz who is seen to have a different image since he last appeared in the big screen, a clear indication that the actor is recreating himself and exploring different grounds, Turks is also doing the same thing to keep its customers excited whenever they visit a branch.

Some time after the release of Cruz’s endorsement video, Turks also released to the market its newest offering — Turks Rice Bowl, which is a complete meal. You can choose beef or chicken for your rice topping, and it is priced at P50. The Small Pita Donner on the other hand, is priced at P35.

“To keep up with the demands of our customers, Turks continues to improve our menu and offerings to satisfy the discriminating taste of our loyal patrons,” Zenarosa stressed.

John Lloyd Cruz now joins the roster of endorsers of Turks such as Piolo and Inigo Pascual.

A taste of rich Thai flavor

I’ve always liked drinking tea whether it’s pure natural tea or mixed with milk and other edible stuff. Milk Tea is a popular beverage now and I’ve tried different brands of Milk Tea, most are Korean recipes and some are adopted from Taiwan. This is the first time I’ve tried Thailand’s version of Milk Tea.

In Thai milk tea they use strong brewed thai tea and mix it with evaporated milk and/or condensed milk, which makes it creamier and rich in flavor.

Tuk Tuk Thai Tea is the first brand to bring the authentic Thai tea recipe here in the Philippines. It’s not only the recipe, but also the technique in making a mouthwatering tea with the use of metal kettle and large filter tea bags that preserves the genuine taste of the Thai Tea.

Tuk Tuk Thai Tea’s best sellers are their original (from left to right) Tuk Tuk Thai Tea, Dark Chocolate, Thai Coffee and Green Tea.

Tuk Tuk Thai Tea is surprisingly affordable. Their product rate starts from P65 and you can buy the most expensive beverage they have for only P80.

Most of the milk tea lovers always look for sinkers such as pearls, nata or coffee jelly. They have sinkers available for P15.

Have a taste of the first original Thai Tea in the Philippines with your friends and family. You can find them at SM Valenzuela, SM Marilao and SM Sangandaan, Caloocan.

And watch out for their upcoming stalls at Fishermall, Quezon City and Waltermart Sta. Maria.

Follow them on facebook and instagram.

Remove pain naturally with Precious Herbal Pillow

On my last minute Christmas shopping I came accross Precious Herbal Pillow at SM North Annex. I saw their products and was curious about it. So I kept asking the sales lady about each products before buying it.

This pillow is one of the products I purchased as a gift for my Hubby. They claimed that their pillows remove pain naturally.

It can be used for both hot and cold therapy.

It is suggested to be used as a hot therapy for muscle pains, stiffness, nervous tension, cramps, arthritis, influenza, colds, asthma, colic, blisters and stress/fatigue. What you have to do is to just heat it up on high 1 minute or 2. Never heat it up for more than 2 minutes. Don’t forget to place a cup of half full water beside it on the microve to avoid overheating it. You can use it as a hot compress for about 30-50 minutes.

You can also steam it, but before steaming it, make sure that you put it in a ziplock or any plastic that is well sealed and wrap a cloth on it. When heated, they said, the pillow produces a slight steaming action and permeates your skin more quickly than dry heat which results in immediate relief of aching joints and muscles.

If you put the pillow inside a well sealed plastic and let it stay for 2 hours or overnight in the freezer you can use it as a cold therapy for sprains, bumps and bruises, inflamed muscles, strains, migraine, headache, tootache, nose bleed, gout and sport injuries.

I use it as a hot therapy for my mentrual cramps and I’m loving it. The smell is very calming and relaxing. It doesn’t burn, and it’s really effective.

What’s inside are all organic – cassia seeds, ginger, cinnamon, lemon grass, lavender and pepper mint.

They claimed that it improves blood circulation, helps relax tired muscles and relieves tension. They also said that it’s effective for gout, high blood pressure, itching, insomia, and rheumatism.

They have different types of herbal pillow to help you relieve the pain and it’s amazing! To know more about their products visit
